The Department of Cinema and Media Arts mounts a wide range of public events. Some of these are part of our annual calendar. Screenings, lectures, workshops, panels and seminars bring our students, faculty, and members of the public together with guest filmmakers and scholars. |CineSiege, taking place annually in October, is a juried showcase of the finest films made by our students during the preceding year.|
|The Finish Line is our annual, on-campus screening of all student films made in our undergraduate program, taking place during two weeks in April.|
|The Norman Jewison Series brings a wide range of guest filmmakers and scholars to campus.|
|York Film Downtown is a public series of panel discussions taking place in the Bell Lightbox, dealing with issues relevant to graduating students and other emerging filmmakers.|
|Film Summer Institute is a two-week intensive workshop with the participation of an internationally known filmmaker or film scholar, taking place annually in May.|
|The Peter Morris Memorial Lecture, offered annually in November, is a public address by a prominent figure in the field of cinema and media studies.|
|Intercut is a public reading of screenplays written by our students, presented in February.|
